Artūrs Akopjans
With his work the artist wants to give the viewer a true and deeply felt joy. In the paintings of Artūrs Akopjans love and tenderness towards the world meet a complex and slightly aching range of emotion. The paintings are marked by a lively, nuanced palette, by generalised figures and, in some works, a light, free line.
The paintings of the Armenian-born artist Arturs Akopjans have won their recognisability through a distinctive and colourful palette. The main part in the works is played by the expression of colour and by abstract drawing, which attests to the artist's creative freedom, guided by the impressions of a moment. As Akopjans puts it, “everything is permissible where art is concerned”. The artist does not hold to concreteness, but tries through his works to give lovers of art a true and deeply felt joy.
