Gallery Rāmis
Gallery RĀMIS occupies spacious, light-filled rooms on the left bank of the Daugava, in Torņakalns. Our aim is to make high-quality art accessible and familiar to a wider public by creating a setting where art is alive, present and understandable to everyone who is curious about it.
Within walking distance of Riga's centre and easy to reach, the gallery lets visitors discover work by widely recognised professional artists of different generations, deepening understanding, sparking interest and drawing the public into the life of the art world. The gallery especially wants to highlight mid-career professional artists: creative personalities who are professionally established and have refined their own individual style.
The gallery's goal is to develop a high-quality art scene on the left bank of the Daugava and make it accessible beyond the centre of Riga: to give artists a welcoming space and an outside, motivating impulse for their creative work, to educate the public and involve it in conversations about art through meetings with artists, lectures and masterclasses, and to widen the audience for high-quality art.
Everyone who is curious and every art lover is welcome at Gallery Rāmis. Our curators especially want to reach young people and visitors who are not art professionals: to spark a general interest in cultural events, meaningful conversation and dialogue between cultures, to encourage an exchange of views, and to foster an intellectual cultural life, critical thinking and learning.
Since it opened in the summer of 2022, Gallery RĀMIS has built a lasting reputation as an important cultural venue, presenting thoughtful, high-quality exhibitions that reflect the richness, diversity and development of Latvian visual art.
All exhibitions and events at RĀMIS are free of charge.
