Everyone has had moments in life when a true joy gives inspiration, strength, a sense of happiness. What are the sources of that joy, and what are the works of art made in such particular moments? Are we able to share it and to inspire others too? This time we asked the artists to give viewers a chance to look into works made out of their own joy and positive feeling.

July is also the anniversary month of Gallery RĀMIS – we want to share the joy and celebrate it together with you!

Taking part in the exhibition: Daiga Krūze, Dita Lūse, Madara Gulbis, Māris Upzars, Arturs Akopjans, Raimo Lielbriedis and others.

The aim of this exhibition is to increase what is positive and joyful. Joy is hard to control; it is mischievous and unruly, so filling a work of art with a sense of happiness, of the variety of life and of growth can be difficult — which makes this exhibition a joyful challenge for the artists and a summer gift for its visitors! Joy in all its forms is the chief source of impulse here. The exhibition takes in various media and styles; it reflects the many forms joy takes and celebrates its power.

In the exhibition “PRIEKS” there will be a chance to see each artist's own style and vision – from abstract explorations in the depths of joy to literal depictions.

Joy in art is always associated with colourfulness, often reinforced by marked contrasts of colour, since contrasting colours strengthen one another and create an added dynamic and a kind of movement — but do the artists feel it the same way? How can one depict a peaceful joy, elation, a joy interlaced with impatience, the joy of satisfaction? Come and join the exhibition to find out, and to feel the energy of joy for yourself!
