In the exhibition “Kustība” visitors have the chance to explore the notions of purposeful movement, change, development, transition and mutability in static forms of visual art – from graphic art and painting to mixed techniques and technologies; visitors have the chance to gain a deeper understanding of the changes taking place in the world around us and in ourselves.
This exhibition is an opportunity to examine the transforming power of movement and to discover the art that can be made by using movement as an artistic medium. Conceptually it is an invitation to turn to the question of change within oneself – how the events of the past year and the war have changed each of us, what consequences the long period of isolation has left, and how, in these circumstances, we can look within ourselves for a way from darkness to light, from problems to a solution, and from suffering to humanity.
Art lets us share our individual perspectives and stories while fostering a dialogue between different cultures and origins; it has the power to bring people together, helping us to see our own lives in a new light and to value the world around us. It urges us to examine our emotions and to open the mind to new possibilities, and it helps us to become more creative, to think more deeply and to find joy and meaning in our lives.
The exhibition shows works by Madara Gulbis, Elga Grīnvalde, Anita Kalniņa, Dita Lūse, Raimo Lielbriedis, Māris Upzars and other artists.
